French Test

There will be a French test on Friday. Students will be tested on their knowledge of expressions and conjugations of the verb "avoir" in positive and negative.

Tower challenge

Students were given the task of creating the tallest stable structure they could using 50 straws, pipe cleaners and tape. They had to use knowledge about how to make something sturdy as well as tall with a budget on their materials.

A Bunch of Smarties in Math

We've been working with smarties to do our math. We sorted samples by colours, then counted the amounts of each. We will use this data to create graphs about our samples. We also divided with them, moving them into groups and discussing remainders.

Art homework

This weekend I am asking students to work on their pattern tree art. The students have drawn a tree on a grid with a circle representing the foliage on top. Students are using blues, purples, and blacks or greys to create a pattern of colours in the blocks around the tree trunk and the circle. They will use greens to create the pattern in the blocks inside the circle, but leave the tree trunk and branches white (we will be doing something different with them next week).

Paper challenge

Students were given the challenge to build a structure using only one piece of paper and an arms length of tape. It had to hold a weight of marbles at least 20 cm off the surface the structure is sitting on.

Blogging Time!

The students were working on the laptops today, blogging about their favourite part of our class novel series.

Valentine Art

We were using negative space to create our Valentine Art today. The students had to cut out a heart, then cut out shapes and designs along the edge of the heart. These pieces will be inverted so that they leave an empty space, and the piece is flipped along the outside.

Probability Data

Students were doing probability experiments today. They collected the results as data which they will be graphing tomorrow.
